Gold Coins: measured in bodies not just units, over 6 months there were 261 police calls there, lady was attacked, rainbow symbol while being demolished, 10 years of violence there, people cheering, man takes home a chunk of brick to represent all the people that died at 1030 Morgan
Subjective Sound, Objective Copy: reporter says that a lot of people were killed and hurt their, neighbors tell stories about what happened to them there (lady who was attacked and they cut her arm), reporter says that neighbors have waited for this day for a long time, people show their joy with cheers

Purpose: provide information on newsworthy topics of importance to the majority of readers.
Types: National issues- finance, ware politics,
Local - actions and events in local area
Obhectives: they all show be objective, facutal, accurate and balanced
Format and Structure: Major stories toward the front, lesser toward the back, organized by category (world news, sports, finance, etc.). Inverted Triangle, important details at the top, least important at the end. Keep paragraphs independant. Not written in chronological order.

2. Opening paragraph (intro) about 25-40 words, provides important and interesting news,
answers who, what, where, and when

Interview Notes
How to conduct an interview:
Can I have you run the microphone up through your shirt and clip on your shirt. Or over the shoulder. Mics should be heard but not seen.
- Casually start with the weather, etc: find a commonality, don’t chit chat about the story save that for the interview
- Say your name and Spell it, what is your role here? What is your title?
- Reporter doesn’t say anything during answers no UMMS, AHHHS
- Videographer is getting the camera set up while reporter is breaking the ice. Videographer gives a signal when ready: clear throat.
- Don’t make subject a part of the crew
- Framing: Eyes on third always on all shots. OK to cut head off not the chin.
- The Nose knows (lead room) allow more space on side of nose
- Videographer should change framing each question

Easy Access Story
Focus statement: Alcohol sold to minors online.
Surprises: I was surprised that when they called the company the liquor was bought from that company didn't care it was sold to minors.
Should we?: I think it would be really interesting to do a story like this.
Differently: I thought this story was done well, it was short and kept to the point and didn't give us useless information that didn't matter.

News Story - Fox 9
Focus Statement: 90-year-old plays tennis
Memorable: I thought the most memorable thing about the story was that a 90 year old women actively plays tennis and she didn't even learn to play until age 62.
Surprises: Winnell was ranked in the state at age 80 and has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
Could we do this: Yes
Should we do this: I think if we were able to find a really good story it would be fun to do, and it always amazes people when someone in their 80-90's still actively plays a sport.
Camera shots: The camera shots that stood out to me were the ones that showed her playing, and the interview on court was good as well. I liked how they interviewed her on the court because that is what the story was about, it wouldn't have had the same effect if she had just been sitting in a room.
Natural sound: Yes, they did use natural sound. I think it added to the story because it made it more real, you could hear the tennis balls being hit in the background and it was interesting to hear how the sound because you could tell how hard she was hitting the ball.
Done differently: I would have taken out the part about her husband dying and her loving her dog, because it doesn't really have to do with Winnell playing tennis.

Viking's pull off a last minute win with rookie Blair Walsh.
I thought the article was interesting. I am not much of a sports person and don't like football, but the article kept me interested throughout the story. I think that it is exciting that the Vikings finally pulled off a win and that they were able to do it with a rookie that people doubted makes it even better.

5 sentence story
Sumaya is a 10th grader who spent most of her summer in Africa. She went there to visit her grandma and great grandma who she met for the first time.The funnest thing she did while she was there was ride camel. The flights were very long and the time difference was hard to adjust to. She is still adjusting back to our time zone after being there for such a long time.
